Storage and Transport of Canius Plus

Canius Plus is a unique complementary feed for dogs, containing milk fermented using lactic acid bacteria derived from dogs (Proccanius®). Dog-derived lactic acid bacteria have been approved in the EU as a technological feed additive. Based on shelf-life data available from the new product formulation of Canius Plus, the product maintains its quality best when stored and transported cold (2–8 °C). According to our information, storage or transport at room temperature does not affect the safety of the product. However, long-term storage at room temperature does affect Proccanius®.

Vetcare does not recommend transporting Canius Plus at room temperature (below 25 °C). However, it is possible to transport the product at room temperature for short periods without compromising its quality. After repeated (a maximum of 2–3 times) week-long transports at room temperature, the product can still be safely used. Ideally, the product should be used within 3 months after repeated room-temperature transports.

If Canius Plus is sold through an online store, it is recommended to inform the consumer that the product can withstand short-term transport at room temperature. The packaging will indicate only the cold storage instructions.
