B. Braun ProntoVet Wound Gel is suitable for cleaning, moistening and maintaining a moist wound environment in acute and chronic wounds, also under dressings. The gel contains polyhexanide and betaine and helps remove fibrin coatings while protecting the underlying tissue. It supports infection prevention and has been shown to be effective against biofilm. ProntoVet is not cytotoxic to cells.
The active ingredient betaine helps accelerate wound healing by disrupting biofilm on the wound surface, enabling thorough cleansing. Betaine is highly effective yet gentle on skin and mucous membranes. The gel can be used on colonised, critically colonised and locally infected wounds.
For veterinary use only. Before applying the gel, wounds should always be rinsed and cleaned with ProntoVet Wound Irrigation Solution to remove loose debris and coatings. The wound should then be covered with at least a 3–5 mm layer of gel. Apply the gel directly into the wound, wound cavity or pocket. Dressings, gauze pads or other absorbent materials may be moistened with the gel before placement. The gel can remain in the wound until the next dressing change, and the amount used depends on the interval between changes. An opened bottle may be used for up to 8 weeks if closed immediately after use. Do not use in animals known or suspected to be allergic to any ingredient. Do not use in the central nervous system, brain or spinal membranes, middle or inner ear, eyes, or on hyaline cartilage. Do not use together with anionic surfactants or mix with other wound cleansers, ointments, oils or enzymes. If such products have been used, ensure they are thoroughly rinsed from the wound, for example with saline.
