ProntoVet Polyhexanide Wound Rinse is a ready-to-use wound irrigation solution for cleansing and moisturizing acute and chronic wounds. It contains polyhexanide and betaine to support effective wound cleaning while being gentle on tissues.
The solution helps loosen fibrin coating and debris from the wound surface while protecting the tissue. It supports infection prevention and has been shown to be effective against biofilm. ProntoVet is not cytotoxic to cells. The active ingredient betaine helps accelerate wound healing by breaking down biofilm on the wound surface, enabling thorough cleansing. It is highly effective yet gentle on skin and mucous membranes.
Suitable for use on colonized, critically colonized and locally infected wounds. The clear, colorless solution is easy to apply and intended for wound irrigation and cleansing of the wound bed.
Usage instructions
Always rinse and clean wounds thoroughly with ProntoVet Wound Rinse before further treatment, ensuring that any loose crusts or coatings are completely removed before applying ProntoVet wound gel. Gauze or dressings soaked with ProntoVet Wound Rinse can be used for additional cleansing if necessary.
Due to relatively low moisture levels, dressings should be changed at least daily, preferably several times per day. The solution should be applied frequently enough to facilitate removal of coatings and necrotic tissue and to achieve optimal wound cleansing. This creates favorable conditions for natural wound healing.
ProntoVet Wound Rinse provides an effective microbial barrier between the wound and the patient. When stored correctly, the product can be used for up to 8 weeks after opening, provided the bottle is closed immediately after use and the opening has not been contaminated. Contaminated bottles must be discarded immediately.
Do not use in patients who are or are suspected to be allergic to any of the ingredients. Do not use in the central nervous system area, on the meninges, in the middle or inner ear, in the eyes, or on hyaline cartilage. Do not use together with anionic surfactants as they may impair stability. Do not use in combination with other wound cleansing agents, ointments, oils or enzymes. If such products have been used, ensure they are completely rinsed from the wound (e.g. with saline solution) before applying ProntoVet.
