Racing Calcium is a high-quality Finnish feed-grade calcium carbonate supplement designed for calcium supplementation in horses and ponies. The fine-textured formula provides well-absorbed calcium and is ideal for balancing the calcium-phosphorus ratio in the diet. It naturally contains small amounts of magnesium oxide, silicon dioxide, and manganese oxide.
Calcium requirements increase with heavy training and high-grain diets due to the phosphorus content of cereals. Balanced mineral nutrition is essential since minerals and trace elements work synergistically in the body — an excess or deficiency of one can reduce the absorption of another.
For adult horses, the calcium-to-phosphorus (Ca:P) ratio should be around 1.4:1. Growing foals and lactating mares require a higher ratio — approximately 1.8:1 for foals and 1.6:1 for lactating mares.
