How we select products for the VetaPet range

How we select products for the VetaPet range

VetaPet was founded to make it easier for pet owners to find reliable, expertly selected products. This principle continues to guide how we build our product range today.

Our goal is not to add as many products as possible to our online store. We want to build a purposeful and clearly structured range that meets the diverse needs of pets and helps customers make informed choices.

So, how does a product make it into the VetaPet range?

It all starts with a real need

First, we consider what need the product is designed to meet.

Does it complement our existing range? Does it offer an option our customers have been asking for? Does it help address a recurring challenge in a pet’s everyday life or support their wellbeing?

A new product does not make it into our range simply because it is new or eye-catching. It needs to have a clear purpose and a well-founded place within the range as a whole.

We evaluate the product information

We review the product’s composition, features, intended use and the information provided by the manufacturer.

We pay attention to whether the product’s contents and use are described openly and in sufficient detail. Customers should be able to understand what they are buying, what the product is intended for and what they should consider when using it.

Accurate product information is particularly important for products related to nutrition and wellbeing. Vague or overly general claims do not help pet owners make informed choices.

Suitability is always individual

A product being accepted into our range does not automatically mean it is suitable for every pet. Pets are individuals and their needs are influenced by factors such as age, size, activity level, life stage, health and possible sensitivities.

That is why we aim to describe the intended uses and essential features of our products clearly. We want to help customers identify what they should consider before making a choice.

If a pet has symptoms, a diagnosed condition or a specific health-related need, it is advisable to discuss the appropriate product or diet with a veterinarian.

Veterinary diets are at the heart of our range

Veterinary diets are the most important product category in the VetaPet range. They are designed for pets with specific nutritional needs and can be used as part of a treatment plan developed by a veterinarian.

We aim to offer options for different needs, life stages and preferences. We recognise that even within the same intended use, pets may prefer different formulations, flavours or feeding methods.

Clear information is especially important when it comes to veterinary diets. Product information in our online store can help customers explore the available options, but it does not replace a veterinary diagnosis or an individual treatment recommendation.

Pet pharmacy products meet everyday needs

Our pet pharmacy, launched in 2025 in Finland, brings together products that support pet health, care and wellbeing.

When building our pet pharmacy range, we pay particular attention to a product’s intended use, the clarity of the product information and the everyday need it is designed to meet.

The range includes products for areas such as skin and coat care, oral health, digestive support and daily care, as well as tick and internal parasite control.

With pet pharmacy products, it is also important to recognise the limits of at-home care. If a pet is showing symptoms, their condition deteriorates or the cause of the symptoms is unknown, a veterinarian should always be consulted.

The pet pharmacy product range is currently only available within Finland.

Collaboration with veterinary clinics brings practical insight

In 2025, we began collaborating with veterinary clinics. Clinics encounter a wide variety of pets and wellbeing needs every day, so this collaboration brings valuable practical insight to our product selection process.

Feedback from clinics can help us identify which products are genuinely needed and what kinds of questions pet owners have about using them.

The aim of this collaboration is to develop our product range, product information and services in a way that better serves both pets and their owners, while also making our extensive range accessible to veterinary patients.

Customer experiences help us develop our range

Customer feedback, questions and product requests are also an important part of our product selection process.

Customers tell us which products have been difficult to find, what kinds of alternatives they are looking for and which product information needs further clarification. These insights help us identify gaps in our range and improve the content of our online store.

A single experience does not determine whether a product belongs in our range, but similar needs expressed by several customers may indicate that an important option is missing.

Our range is constantly evolving

Adding a product to our range is not the end of the process. We continue to monitor questions about products, customer feedback and how well the range works as a whole.

Needs change, new information becomes available and new options enter the market. That is why our range also needs to be continuously reviewed and developed.

If a product no longer serves its purpose or we find an alternative that is a better fit for the overall range, we may make changes.

Less chance, more careful consideration

A good product range is not simply about the number of products available. It is built on products having a clear purpose and customers having enough information to compare their options.

We want to make choosing as easy as possible, without promising that there is one right solution for every pet. Our goal is to provide carefully considered options and help pet owners find the one that best suits their individual situation.

The same idea that guided the founding of our online store continues to guide us today: making reliable, expertly selected products accessible to every pet owner.
