Effective Combination
When a dog or cat is diagnosed with osteoarthritis, veterinarians often recommend omega-3 fatty acids from fish oil and joint-supporting nutrients. The most researched joint supplements are glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate. This recommendation is based on WSAVA’s (World Small Animal Veterinary Association) 2014 guidelines, which are backed by studies.
Nutrolin® HIP & JOINT is a unique, synergistic product. The daily dose for a 20 kg pet contains up to 1400 mg of omega-3 fatty acids and 1000 mg of joint-supporting nutrients. The combination of fish oil and joint supplements is more effective than using them separately. Together, they protect the joints, support normal joint function, and reduce joint pain. When pain disappears, the pet moves more, and since movement is medicine for the joints, the pet’s quality of life improves. Additionally, the need for pain-relief medication can often be reduced.
Tested and Researched
Nutrolin® HIP & JOINT was tested for two years before being launched in 2013. A pilot study was also conducted at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Helsinki, where researchers examined the effects of HIP & JOINT on dogs with chronic pain due to hip osteoarthritis.
Pain was measured during the study using a pain index developed by Dr. Hielm-Björkman’s team. Over a three-month follow-up period, measurements showed a significant reduction in osteoarthritis pain (Hielm-Björkman & Seppälä, 2013). Pharmaceutical-Grade Ingredients
Nutrolin® HIP & JOINT is manufactured in Finland in a facility monitored by Fimea (the Finnish Medicines Agency). The product's ingredients are pharmaceutical-grade, the same as those used in human joint supplements.
The fish oil is sourced from a facility monitored by the Icelandic Medicines Agency and contains at least 280 mg/ml of effective omega-3 fatty acids: ETA, EPA, DPA, and DHA. The daily dose of HIP & JOINT contains nearly 100 times more omega-3 fatty acids than a daily dose of green-lipped mussel extract.
